You will be teaching English at a kindergarten. You will teach students that are between four and five years old, but also elementary school students 1st grade to 6th grade.
You will follow the standard school calendar, which means that you will teach every weekday and also if necessary participate in events on weekends.
We are currently using the GrapeSEED curriculum (For more information, please click the following link https://grapeseedus.com/). You will have to attend workshops and/or training to get the GrapeSEED teaching license to teach. You will also do on the job training before you are able to teach your own classes.
We are currently a team of 10 English teachers. We work well as a team and as such we expect you to be a good team player as well. You should be an open-minded person, flexible, eager to learn and of course love to work with children.
If you enjoy working with children and teaching English, we think you will find this position interesting and a good opportunity for you to evolve as both a person and a teacher.
We are an official IB Authorized World School. You are not required to have experience with IB, but preferable. You will be required to take workshops and learn about IB if you do not have the experience.
Description of our kindergarten:
Our kindergarten is located by the foot of Mount Fuji. It is close to Mishima and Numazu area so you can enjoy nature but also urban areas.
From Mishima, you can take the train (slow or shinkansen) to the Tokyo urban area. With shinkansen it takes less than an hour and with slow train about two hours.
Your schedule follows the national school calendar; thus, you will have time off during summer, winter and spring holidays and some national holidays depending on schedule.
